Newmarket, Suffolk

Newmarket is a small town on the Suffolk/Cambridge border well known for horse racing. In the town there is the National Horse Racing Museum and various other related places of interest such as Tattersalls, the oldest auction house in the world.  There is a good selection of eateries in the town including Turkish, Italian and Mexican along with the usual Indian and Chinese.

Close by are Ely with its cathedral well worth a visit, Cambridge has the Fitzwilliam and Botanic Gardens along with all the colleges and Bury St Edmunds, the Abbey Gardens, cathedral and a plethora of cafes and eateries on Abbeygate Street. Other places of interest are IWM Duxford and Ickworth NT.
